'Loss of Old Self'

I am a throat cancer survivor. I finished my radiation treatments in summer 07. I thank GOD every day that the cancer is gone, but the side effects from the radiation have left me with no saliva and problems with my esophagus. Both of those side effects make it very difficult to eat so I can not eat foods the way I used to or the kinds of foods that I used to eat. I am no longer the person (physically) that I was before the cancer. I am having a very difficult time dealing with the loss of my old self and accepting my new self...aka the 'new normal'.
