'Need resources for a friend'

I have a friend who had been abused by her husband for many many years. A few months ago, she shot and killed him. She says it's in self-defense. I am trying to help her. We are interested in setting up some sort of trust fund where people can donate to her legal costs as well as possibily for her children (she has 2 boys). She is currently in jail, waiting to be indicted. I need help from someone who has done this. I don't even know where to start. I can design a website for her and mail letters to news agencies asking them to do a story, but I want to make sure I do this right.

Hi Candy,

At this stage the American Bar Association at www.abanet.org is the only place I can think of that can give legal advise. I am not an attorney but I am sure that her attorney is planning on using self-defense for her if possible.

It is a shame that she couldn't get her and her children out of the house before it became a killing field. If any of my readers have other ideas, please share them with us.

well, it is really sad, but it is the reality.

i am sorry that i cannot give any professional advice, as i am just one of those many victims of domestic violence.

it is true that i always wish if my boyfriend would disappear from this world at this moment.

my stress level is so high, and the stress level test showed that i can go crazy any momoent.

i have been trying that i hate his misbehavior but not him as an individual. but it is hard.

i am just hoping that i would not fight against him with some kind of weapons as i really want to avoid such a terrible situation.

however, i sometimes cannot stop me from thinking about how i can hurt him physically.

it is so sad when i think about the reaction from my family and friends. even if it happens, are they going to understand the reason why i have done such a thing? i doubt it.

so, i just hope things will turn out ok for any victims of domestic violence.
